Why the best jobs never show up on LinkedIn
October 16, 2026 · by the Offerkin team
If you only watch LinkedIn and Indeed, you're seeing a fraction of the market. Many of the strongest openings — especially at hardware, semiconductor and research-driven companies — appear on the company's own careers page first, and sometimes nowhere else. Here's why, and what to do about it.
What a company career board actually is
Most companies don't run their own hiring software. They plug an applicant tracking system (ATS) into careers.company.com — Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby, Workable, SmartRecruiters, Workday, Eightfold, Recruitee. Every approved req goes there the moment a recruiter clicks publish. Aggregators discover it hours or days later — if the company paid for distribution, if the parser liked the formatting, and if a recruiter didn't just skip cross-posting entirely (common for niche and senior roles, where inbound volume is already unmanageable).
Why the gap is biggest exactly where competition is lowest
- Specialist roles (silicon, EDA, photonics, biotech) are cross-posted less because the audience is small and known.
- Senior roles attract enough direct applicants that paying for aggregator reach is wasted money.
- Referral-first cultures post publicly for compliance while hiring through referrals — the public post still works for you if you see it early.
The result: the postings with the best signal-to-noise are often the ones with the worst aggregator visibility.
How to use career boards without losing your mind
| Approach | Reality |
|---|---|
| Bookmark 15 career pages, check weekly | You will do it twice, then never again |
| Set alerts on each board | 15 inboxes of noise, no ranking, no dedup |
| One tool that watches them all | This is what we built — keep reading |
The mechanics matter: the same role posted in five locations should count once; a listing should be ranked against your background, not recency; and “new” must mean new-to-you, not new-to-the-internet.
What Offerkin does with this
Offerkin reads 200 company career boards (NVIDIA, Intel, AMD, Qualcomm, Google, Tenstorrent, Stripe, …) plus keyless job sites on every search — daily on Pro, weekly on Free — deduplicates by role, ranks a Top 10 against your resume, and emails you only the matches you haven't seen. Paste any individual job link and it will parse the posting, tailor your resume to it with per-change evidence, and tell you honestly which of the job's requirements your resume doesn't cover yet.
Upload a resume and see your Top 10 — free, no card required.
