Frequently asked questions
Everything about how Offerkin finds jobs, remembers your answers, tailors your resume, and handles your data and billing.
The product
Do I have to answer the same questions for every job?
No — that's the point. Each gap question (“Do you have experience with DFT?”) is asked exactly once. Your answer is saved to your account and reused everywhere: ranking future matches, tailoring resumes, and filling the same gap on any other job that asks. This holds across resume versions too — upload a new resume and your answers carry over. A “no” is remembered as well, so you won't be asked again. Review, edit, or delete any saved answer in Settings → Memory.
Why not just use ChatGPT or Claude for this?
ChatGPT and Claude are excellent writers—and Offerkin uses a frontier model too. But a chat gives you an answer, not a job-search system. Offerkin checks 200 company career boards directly, reads full structured postings, remembers which jobs you’ve seen and what you’ve already told it, and validates every tailored claim against your resume or saved evidence. Unsupported claims are dropped automatically. In chat, the model writes and grades its own work. In Offerkin, code grades the model. Read the full comparison →
Where do the jobs come from?
200 company career boards polled directly through their official APIs (Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby, Workday, Oracle, Eightfold, and more), plus job-site APIs. Every source — and its live health — is public: see the full list →. We don't scrape LinkedIn or Indeed; they have no public jobs API.
How do I find the hiring manager for a job I'm applying to?
Start with the posting itself — "you will report to", the team name, the discipline in the title — then look for that discipline's manager at the company (Head of / Director of / Manager of the same field), and check whether they posted the role themselves. Offerkin does all of this in one click on any job card: it shows the likely hiring managers with a confidence level and the evidence behind each guess, finds a verified work email when you ask, and drafts an outreach note whose claims are checked against your resume — you send it, always. The full method guide is here →
I've applied to dozens of jobs and heard nothing back. What now?
Volume alone rarely fixes it — the bottleneck is usually one specific conversion, and you can't see which one without tracking it. Two levers help most: tighten targeting (fewer, better-fit applications with a resume that honestly matches), and stop relying on the application queue alone — a short, specific note to the hiring manager after applying reliably surfaces you from it. Offerkin's tracker shows your own funnel (applied → interview → offer rates) and flags stale applications worth a follow-up.
Can recruiters tell if my resume was written by AI?
They notice the tells of unsupported claims, not AI itself: metrics that fall apart under one "how?" question, uniformly polished bullets, and skills that a screening call exposes. A resume that only rearranges and reframes experience you actually have produces none of those tells. That's exactly what our validator enforces — every claim is checked against your resume or saved answers before you ever see it. How honest AI tailoring works →
Can I track jobs I find outside Offerkin?
Yes. In your Applications board, Add a job and paste any posting link — we fetch the title, company and description, and the job becomes a first-class citizen: rankable, tailorable, letter-writable, and tracked from Saved through Offer on your stage board with notes.
Do cover letters follow the same honesty rules as resumes?
Yes. Every paragraph must cite the job-posting requirement it answers and evidence from your resume or saved answers; paragraphs whose claims (skills, tools, numbers) aren’t grounded in your background are removed automatically before you see them, with the reason shown. Edit the letter freely — your words win, and your edited version is re-checked the same way.
Data & privacy
Is my resume sent to third parties?
Only to run the features you use. To analyze your resume, rank jobs and tailor resumes, we send your resume text, the relevant job descriptions and your saved answers to our AI provider, Anthropic (Claude). Under Anthropic’s commercial terms, Anthropic may not train its models on that data. Your resume is never sold; there are no ad scripts and no cross-site trackers — only cookieless, first-party page-view counting (Vercel Web Analytics) — and deleting your account erases everything we store. Plans & billing
What counts as an “AI-tailored resume”?
Tailoring a resume or writing a cover letter for one job posting — the two share one monthly quota. Free includes 3 jobs per month; re-opening a job you already generated for is always free. Pro is unlimited. Every resume change and letter paragraph shows its reason and evidence, and you accept or reject each one.
Do I lose my data if I downgrade to Free?
No. Your matches, tracked applications, letters, and saved answers stay in your account. Downgrading only moves you to weekly match emails and the monthly generation limit.
How do I cancel?
Plans → Manage subscription (Stripe billing portal), any time. No email, no support ticket. Your account stays Pro until the end of the period you paid for, then drops to Free automatically.
What if Pro isn't worth it for me?
30-day money-back guarantee: if Pro doesn't earn its keep in your first month, tell us within 30 days of your first payment — via Plans → Manage subscription or by replying to your Stripe receipt — and we'll refund it in full. Everything you created stays in your account.
How are payments handled?
Stripe checkout — your card details never touch our servers. Prices are in USD; quarterly billing is charged once every 3 months.
